Preparing for the exhibition
The whole chapter could be devoted to dog's exhibitions. It is the whole
world of emotions and feeling that it is necessary to analyse everything not
without the constructive criticism. It isn't allowed to forget that your dog
will be estimated with the critical eye on these displays, with smaller or
bigger austerity. What is more it will be compared to other dogs of the same
race. You will have the opportunity to check the efficiency of your work
referring to taking care of your dog, the presentation on the catwalk and
walking with the leash.
When the day of the exhibition finally comes, after months of efforts,
all breeders are moved, even the ones who know exactly how these tests are
looking like. The more the hour of the competition is closer, the more the
dog is in the centre of attention. We want it to show itslelf from his best
side and so that sacrifices devoted to him were compensated. Right before
very beginning of the competition, everyone is irritated and intrigued. We
are always under the impression that the dog isn't in its best form and that
it was necessary perhaps to give him a few extra lessons and we wait
impatiently to see his opponents. These feelings don't vanish with lapse of
time. They are the part of the fascination which the world of exhibitions
creates in me..
On the day before the exhibition you should bathe your dog so that traces
of oiling vanished. The dog should be dried with a great care. Don't forget
that you are going to the beauty contest and the dog is supposed to be
beautiful! Lhasa's head needs no special preparation. It will be sufficient
to do the equal parting on the center of its head and to brush back its hair
this way so that it would show eyes. For the fringe didn't move until the
moment when the dog leaves for the subterfuge you can use two clips.
First exhibitions will be rich in lessons for you and for your dog. If
you meet with difficulties during the presentation, watch competitors more
experienced from you..
